Hiking: the Baptiste stone

This pretty forest-covered loop takes you to the "Pré Bouillet" chalet with its view of the Salève.

In the heart of the communal forest lies the Pierre à Baptiste, a morainic boulder deposited when the glaciers retreated. You can see the cupules on the ridge and the holes dug by Sieur Baptiste in the hope of splintering the stone and exploiting it.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step: From the church, head south, then take an alleyway (chemin de Chazuet), which becomes a path, towards the Pierre à Baptiste. After crossing a forest road, the boulder is reached, nestled in the middle of a forest. The walk continues uphill to the Pré-Bouillet chalet. From here, follow the route back down to Farges, via Le Replat.
