Coppet Castle

The Château de Coppet overlooks the historic old town between Nyon and Geneva, on the shores of Lake Geneva. It has remained in the same family for nine generations and is open to visitors from April to October. You can discover the places where Jacqu ...

Exiled by Napoleon, whom she quickly opposed, Germaine de Staël gathered in Coppet, which had become the salon of Europe, the great minds of her time, European political and literary figures and members of French and Swiss high society. Thus was born the Coppet group, a hotbed of intellectual and liberal opposition to the Empire.
Open to the public in the afternoons, the castle has preserved the spirit and the vivid memories of its illustrious inhabitants in a preserved setting. With its view over the lake and the town, the castle offers visitors a collection of objets d'art, signed furniture and paintings by masters.

The castle is also the setting for festive or prestigious events such as the Coppet Christmas market in December, the garden festival and the Swiss elegance competition in spring. It offers various rooms and cellars for hire, for private events in a unique environment.
