"The Romantic Trio from Frankfurt to Madrid
Maxime Alliot Barbier, violin
Gustave Bourgeois, cello
Alicia Abensour, piano

From the tormented passions of Mendelssohn to the fiery rhythms of Turina, let yourself be carried away by the virtuosity of the piano, the lyricism of the cello and the flights of the violin in two major works of the repertoire.

Mendelssohn's first trio was hailed by his contemporaries as one of the finest works of its kind.
The composer Robert Schumann even described Mendelssohn as the "Mozart of the nineteenth century"!
Born in Seville, Turina left to study composition in Paris in 1905. He returned 10 years later to teach at the Madrid Conservatoire. His music, with its impressionist and lyrical style, is in the tradition of the French impressionist composer Debussy.

Felix Mendelssohn
Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49 (1839)
