Mobile Jazz Band – Jazz in fort l’écluse

The Mobile Dixieland Band is made up of seasoned traditional jazz musicians, including several professionals from the Fribourg region.

On clarinet, you'll have the pleasure of hearing Michel Weber, a retired teacher and well-known virtuoso musician on the French-speaking Switzerland scene. Our drummer Istvan Varga will bring his lightness and humor to the group with his original and creative interventions. Bernard Schwenter, banjoist and occasional vocalist, will support the group with his efficient rhythm and virtuoso solos. Inspired by Louis Armstrong and many others, Denis Pittet, trumpeter and ballroom musician in his youth, will delight us with the variety of his interpretations. On sousaphone, Bernard Marmy, founder of the group, blows his effective bass lines to keep the swing going. The style of the repertoire will oscillate between New Orleans and Swing while passing through Dixieland, Creole and Charleston.

Musicians: Michel Weber, clarinet; Denis Pittet, trumpet; Bernard Schwenter, banjo; Istvan Varga, drums, washboard; Bernard Marmy, sousaphone.
