The train provides easy access to the Pays de Gex – Monts Jura from Paris and several towns in the region. Depending on where you are staying, Valserhône or Geneva are the main rail gateways to the destination.
From Paris, there are two direct TGV services that take you to the Pays de Gex in under three hours: one to Valserhône (formerly Bellegarde-sur-Valserine) and the other to Genève-Cornavin station.
Two stations to reach your destination
Valserhône railway station
Located in the south of the region, Valserhône station is a key gateway to the Valserine Valley and the Jura Mountains, amongst other destinations.
It can be reached directly from Paris by TGV. Once you arrive, there are several options for continuing your journey to your accommodation.
Geneva-Cornavin Station
On the other side of the border, Geneva-Cornavin also offers easy access to the Pays de Gex via a direct TGV service from Paris.
Its location in the heart of Geneva makes it another convenient point of entry for visitors staying in the part of the Pays de Gex that overlooks Lake Geneva.
The Léman Express for travelling around Greater Geneva
The Léman Express complements the range of train services available.
The L6 line provides a route to the area from Valserhône or Pougny-Chancy. The Léman Express network also connects several towns in the Lake Geneva and Alpine regions, including:
- Saint-Gervais-les-Bains-Le Fayet;
- Annecy;
- Annemasse;
- Évian-les-Bains;
- Valserhône;
- Coppet.
This cross-border rail network therefore makes it easier to travel between France and Switzerland and allows you to easily incorporate train travel into your holiday.
