Since1 January 2018, Pays de Gex Agglo has been collecting the taxe de séjour au réel from accommodation providers (hotels, gîtes, collective inns, bed and breakfasts, furnished accommodation, campsites, holiday villages, tourist residences) all year round.
The purpose of the tourist tax is to encourage visitors to contribute to the costs of tourist activities and the promotion of our destination. It is paid by customers to the accommodation providers, who return it to the Pays de Gex Intercommunal Tourist Office and its Monts Jura resort.
An additional tax of 10% to the tourist tax has been introduced by decision of the Ain departmental council. This additional tax is established and collected according to the same procedures as the tourist tax to which it is added.
Tourist tax is charged per person (aged 18 and over) per night and must appear on the bill. The amount varies according to the type of accommodation, and whether or not it is classified.
