How do I get to Pays de Gex?

Situated in the north-east of the Ain département, Pays de Gex lies between the Jura massif and Lake Geneva.
Nestling at the foot of the Monts Jura, the mountainous area forms the backbone of the region, with easy access to the Jura via the famous Col de la Faucille.

The plains are largely open to the Lake Geneva basin and the Greater Geneva area.

  1. Gex urban routes (LUGE): 5 regular routes Monday to Friday and a new circular route on Saturday mornings

    • Route 60 (formerly route F): Gex – Ferney-Voltaire – Gare Cornavin Genève
    • Route 66: Aéroport – Ferney-Voltaire – Prévessin-Moëns – Saint-Genis-Pouilly – Val Thoiry

  1. Le Noctambus: It’s possible to go out in the Geneva conurbation on Fridays and Saturdays from midnight without taking the car!

Transport on demand

On-demand transport is a public transport system based on reservations that serves the communes of the south and north of Gex. The system was set up by Pays de Gex agglo and operated by AIT Mobilité.

Stops served by transport on demand

  • To and from the communes in the north, the TAD serves the following stops:

Echenevex – Echenevex, Mury – Maconnex, Arcades – Ségny Centre – Versonnex/village – Versonnex, Genevriers – Sauverny, La Croisée – Grilly, Mairie – Divonne les Bains, Ancienne Gare.

  • The following stops are served to and from the communes in the south:

Léaz, Longeray – Léaz, Grésin – Léaz, Centre – Pougny, Village – Pougny, Gare – Péron, Cimetière – Péron, Logras – Péron, Sur Greny – Péron, Feigères – Farges, Centre – Farges, Chemin du Quart d’Avo – Farges, Airans – Collonges, Centre – Collonges, Technoparc – Collonges, Cimetière – Collonges, Ecorans – Saint Jean-de-Gonville, Sous Saint-Jean – Saint Jean-de-Gonville, Mornex – Saint Jean-de-Gonville, Eglise – Challex, Mairie – Thoiry/Val-Thoiry – Thoiry, Mairie – Thoiry, Fenières – Saint-Genis Pouilly, Maison médicale – CERN, Porte de France – La Plaine, Gare.

Access by road

Would you like to visit the Pays de Gex plain by car? Or do you prefer the mountains? It’s easy, by road, we’re 1? hours from Lyon and 20 minutes from Geneva thanks to 3 motorways from France or Switzerland:

  • A40 – Mâcon – Geneva
  • A39 – Dijon – Geneva
  • A41 – Grenoble – Chambéry – Geneva

There are other ways of getting to Pays de Gex by road: coaches, taxis and VTCs.

To use Swiss motorways, you need to buy an annual vignette (cost: €44 – 2025 rate), on sale at the Gex and Lélex branch.

Did you know that 8 out of 10 people travel alone in their car? Can you imagine all the people we could transport if the cars were full? Imagine the number of people you could meet by doing this? And above all the fuel savings you could make by sharing your journey.

Focus on HéLéma

HéLéman Pays de Gex is a reservation-free carpooling service between Valserhône and Divonne-les-Bains to Saint-Genis-Pouilly and Meyrin, with 18 stops when it opens. This service allows you to carpool without booking, without having to plan your journeys in advance. Drivers only propose their journey when they get into their car and indicate it on the application. Passengers do the same thing: they turn up at the stop and make their request.
Requests are displayed on illuminated roadside signs.
This public service provided by the Pôle métropolitain du Genevois français is free for passengers and compensated for drivers.
