La Poutouille is an alpine farm built in 1834 in the commune of Péron, located at 1446m altitude in the National Nature Reserve of the Haute Chaîne du Jura.
The chalet is composed of 2 distinct parts: a refuge and a gîte.
The refuge is open all year round. It can accommodate up to 8 people. 6 mattresses are available for hikers. The refuge allows hikers to warm up in winter by the wood stove, to eat at the table and to take shelter in case of bad weather. There are mattresses to rest on in case of fatigue and to spend the night. The refuge was renovated in 2022. The walls and roof were insulated and then clad with burnt wood planks. Solar panels have been installed on the roof of the chalet to provide light for the living areas. USB sockets are also available for the convenience of visitors. Wood is also provided by the association to fuel the stove.
The gîte is only available to people living in the commune of Péron. To have the key it is necessary to reserve via the Internet site of the town hall of Peron and to go in town hall to recover it. The access to the site is available under the tab "Availability and reservations".
It offers 14 beds on the first floor, under the roofs, which were refurbished in 2011. Let the sun wake you up with its soft rays in the morning through the skylights.
On the ground floor, a wood-burning cooker is used to heat the room and cook the food. There is also a gas cooker and a range of cooking utensils and pans.
Outside, a source of non-drinking water allows you to refill your water supply. This will allow you to clean your cooking utensils. It is therefore important to remember to bring drinking water with you. The fire place allows you to enjoy good food on a wood fire and to warm up during the mild nights at the top of the Jura.
It is your duty to respect the place, to clean up after your stay and to bring back your rubbish. Thank you for thinking of future arrivals.
The refuge is located in a National Nature Reserve. It is advisable to respect the regulations in force.
Please note: camping in any form is prohibited in the Haute Chaîne du Jura. However, there is some tolerance in the immediate vicinity of chalets and refuges open to the public (within a 15 metre radius of the chalet) if they are fully booked.
Special case of bivouacs (temporary camping without tents): the Prefectural Order of 16 October 2017 sets out the conditions for bivouacs within the Nature Reserve. For more information on the subject, please consult the website of the Haute Chaine de Jura National Nature Reserve.
