Annecy: the pearl of the Alps

Nicknamed the “Venice of the Alps”, Annecy is a city of undeniable charm, criss-crossed by numerous canals and bordered by an exceptionally pure lake. Strolling through the Old Town is like stepping back in time, with its narrow cobbled streets, colourful facades and medieval arcades. The Château d’Annecy, perched high above the town, offers spectacular views and houses a museum dedicated to local history.

Old town of Annecy

The Palais de l’Île, a 12th-century prison in the shape of a ship’s prow, sits enthroned in the middle of the Thiou.

Lake Annecy, a natural jewel, invites you to a whole host of activities: swimming on its landscaped beaches, romantic cruises, cycling along the cycle path that circles the lake, or water sports such as paddle boarding and sailing. On the edge of the lake, the Roc de Chère nature reserve offers the chance to explore its remarkable biodiversity on a peaceful walk.

Neydens and Annemasse: exceptional leisure activities and views

Just a few kilometres from the Swiss border, Neydens is the perfect place to relax and have fun, thanks to the Vitam centre. This leisure complex offers a large aquatic area with slides, wave pools and a wellness area, as well as sports activities such as climbing and fitness, ideal for a relaxing family break.

Not far from there, Les Monts du Genevois is the departure point for the Salève cable car, which takes you to a breathtaking panorama in just a few minutes. From the top of the Salève, you can see the whole region, from Mont Blanc to the shores of Lake Geneva and Geneva itself. It’s also a popular spot for hiking, paragliding and picnicking in one of the most beautiful landscapes in Haute-Savoie.

Savoyard gastronomy

Haute-Savoie is a real paradise for gourmets. Don’t miss out on Savoyard specialities such as fondue, raclette and tartiflette, a comforting dish made with potatoes, Reblochon cheese and bacon. Savoie wines, including Chignin-Bergeron, Roussette and Vin de Seyssel, are the perfect accompaniment to these dishes.
