The bookshop invites all readers to take part in a discussion about the play ‘Le métro de Gaza’, which tells the story of a meeting between a young woman and the inventor of the Gaza metro.
Hervé Loichemol will present ‘Le métro de Gaza’, a collection of texts written between 2021 and 2023, all marked by the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
It tells the story of a meeting between a young woman and the inventor of the Gaza metro. What follows is a very strange conversation between the two of them, Khawla and Abusal, in which other characters mingle: Djamil, whom Khawla is desperate to find, but also Nada, some nurses, and all this little world wanders through an underground that serves as a refuge, but where they gradually lose each other. It’s a highly engaging play, with echoes of the current situation in Palestine, that will delight fans of the absurd, Kafka, Beckett and many others. This play was first performed at the Theatre of Freedom in Jenin in December 2022. It is still relevant today and can be read as a political tool for dreaming and thinking about the world differently. Not to be missed!
