The historical talk at the Le Châtelard media library will focus on ‘Cluny and the Peace of God in the Middle Ages.’
"With the Empire divided and the Vikings shaking the kingdoms, feudalism gave way to the law of the strongest. The first decades after the year 1000 saw a rise in violence within the western territories, while the outer borders were under attack. In the silence of the monasteries, voices rose up and defined a necessity, an obligation: the peace of God. Cluny would be the instrument of this peace."
