The theme of the historical talk will be "The UN, the Blue Helmets and NATO".
"Hopeful in 1945, decried today, the United Nations was created in the aftermath of the deadliest of conflicts. With its peacekeeping force, the Blue Helmets, the UN intervenes to prevent the resumption of conflicts in many countries around the world. The UN has also provided a legal framework for armed intervention, as in Kuwait.
Today, war has not been eradicated, yet the UN is taking action. A look back at the UN’s role in promoting peace.
