This piece offers an introspective and poetic journey that reveals the resonances between scientific research and human experience.

Collision(s) is a play inspired by an encounter between playwright Catherine Tinivella-Aeschimann and particle physicist Yasmine Amhis (CNRS/CERN).

Through a fragmented narrative about a mother and daughter, a to-do list, scientific inventories and personal reflections, Collision(s) explores with strength and delicacy the journey of a young physicist, trying as best she can to reconcile her scientific career with her role as a mother, against a backdrop of calls for gender equality in the technical and scientific branches. Catherine Tinivella-Aeschimann’s show is a moving reminder that behind every scientific breakthrough lies a profoundly human story, one that theater is particularly well placed to tell.

This co-production between CERN and Château-Rouge d’Annemasse, directed by the company Les sens des mots, premiered at the Avignon 2025 Off Festival, followed by performances last September at the Théâtre de la Reine Blanche in Paris, and at Château Rouge in Annemasse.
