CelloArte – 28th Pays de Gex Chamber Music Festival

The Saturday 05 September at 19 a.m00

Orangerie du Château – Ferney-Voltaire 01210 Ferney-Voltaire

Three great, warm-hearted artists, all professors at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, will take you to the heart of 19th-century Romantic Germany for this evening!

Two composers, Mendelssohn and Schumann, almost twins linked by a deep friendship.
It was therefore fitting to associate them in the same concert, which includes these two trios in D minor. Sadly, this friendship was cut short by Mendelssohn’s untimely death at the age of 36.
It was after listening to Mendelssohn’s D minor trio, composed around 1840, that Schumann, who had great admiration for him, said: “Mendelssohn is the Mozart of the 19th century, the most radiant of musicians. Is this why, seven years later, in 1847, the year of Mendelssohn’s death, he also wrote his first piano trio in D minor…?

These two masterpieces will be performed by Elena Rozanova, Annick Roussin and Hélène Dautry in the beautiful setting of the Orangerie du Château de Voltaire.

Piano, violin and cello trios
by Fr. Mendelssohn and R. Shumann

Elena Rozanova – piano, Annick Roussin – violin, Hélène Dautry – cello
