Come and discuss Alexandre Regad’s book, which tells the true story of the witch-hunted women of Morzine. A gripping ensemble narrative about these women who were forcibly interned, and the struggle of some of them against obscurantism.
The women, witches and she-devils of Morzine will take centre stage with Alexandre Regad, author of the book *Les réprouvées*, published by Encre fraîche. Drawing on a true story, he recounts how several women, seized by almost demonic convulsive fits, were placed in isolation by the authorities at the end of the 19th century. A choral narrative that gives a voice to these mistreated women as they faced the authorities, doctors, men in white coats and men of the church. A book about the treatment of madness, misogyny and obscurantism. Do come along and hear this breathtaking story, which unfolded right on our doorstep!
