Description

This hike is accessible from April to November, and is ideal for a short outing to admire the scenery from the Col de la Faucille. The route alternates between stony paths and forest trails. On arrival, the Redoute belvedere reveals a breathtaking view of Geneva, the Salève and the Mont-Blanc massif. On a clear day, the panorama stretches as far as the Swiss Alps offering a unique spectacle at sunrise and sunset.

Getting to the starting point Report a problem

Step 1: La Faucille Centre Station

Start in front of the Hôtel de la Petite Chaumière in the centre of the Col de La Faucille. Take the path alongside the buildings to the right of the Montrond telecombi departure station. Follow the left-hand edge of the go ape park, then continue along the parking area in a peaceful mountain atmosphere.

Step 2: La Faucille car park

Follow the white path which opens up on the right. It dips slightly between the trees.

Step 3: Creux de la Mainaz

At the next fork in the road continue to the left following the path that descends slightly towards the promontory.

Step 4: Belvédère de la Redoute

In just a few minutes, you'll reach the Redoute lookout, a balcony overlooking the Alps. The view opens out onto the Alps, Mont Blanc, the Salève and the entire Lake Geneva basin below. A bench invites you to take a contemplative break.

The return journey is a leisurely one along the same path.
