Snowshoe trail from Faucille to Turet

A lovely forest walk that takes you to a lookout offering spectacular views of Mont Blanc, the Alps and Lake Geneva. A natural experience not to be missed!
Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

(1) The trail starts from Route de la Greffière, which connects the RN5 to the center of La Faucille. Join the RN5, cross it carefully, then continue towards Gex.

(2) The trail starts on the left, just opposite the La Couronne hotel. It begins a gradual climb before leveling off into a rolling landscape. You then enter the Turet forest, where the path winds peacefully between the trees. Along the way, you pass spectacular geological formations, evidence of the mountain range’s turbulent past. The trail then joins the Vieille Maison forest road. Follow this track on the right to reach the Turet forest chalet.

(3) The trail resumes just after the chalet, on the left side of the road. A slight climb leads to another crossing of the forest track, before entering a pretty shaded valley. There, an intersection offers a choice between the Mauvais Pas trail, which descends towards Gex, or the direction of Le Turet.

(4) Keep to the right, towards Le Turet. The path enters a charming woodland once again, lined with old stone walls. As you leave the forest, a small ridge comes into view: pass by the small stone cross standing there, then begin the descent.

(5) Very quickly, the view clears, giving way to a magnificent 180° panorama. A conveniently placed bench invites you to take a contemplative break: your gaze takes in the peaks of the Jura, the plain, and, on a clear day, the summits of the Alps in the distance.

The return journey is a leisurely stroll along the same path.
