Concert – Bachar Mar-Khalifé
The Monday 04 January at 20 a.m30
Théâtre du Bordeau 18 rue de Genève 01630 Saint-Genis-Pouilly
Bachar Mar-Khalifé returns with *Postludes*, a piano-and-voice mini-album blending Chopin, Nirvana, Christophe, and Lebanese songs. An eclectic and socially conscious repertoire, carried by an intimate performance that explores resilience, memory, and the quest for truth.
After a two-year hiatus, the Franco-Lebanese musician and composer Bachar Mar-Khalifé released, out of the blue, a mini-album titled *Postludes*.
As a return to basics, in a solo piano-and-voice format, the artist brings together in a single collection six of Chopin’s Preludes, a cover of Nirvana’s “Something in the Way,” Christophe’s “Les Paradis Perdus,” as well as the song “Sawfa Nabqa Houna,” which has become a symbol of resilience for the people of Gaza and his war-torn native Lebanon.
In Bachar’s hands, this astonishing and unique repertoire—which transcends aesthetics and eras—resembles a manifesto. The choice of songs exudes a desire to tell our whole story. And his interpretation seems more imbued than ever with a deep longing for truth.
In concert, the program will be expanded to include Bachar’s own compositions as well.
