On December 4, 2021, on the France Culture program *Répliques*, Camille Froidevaux-Metterie debated with Jean-Michel Delacomptée about gender relations. It was a tense exchange in which contemporary feminism and patriarchal discourse clashed.
December 4, 2021, Alain Finkielkraut welcomes philosopher Camille Froidevaux-Metterie, author of *Un corps à soi*, and essayist Jean-Michel Delacomptée, author of *Les hommes et les femmes, notes sur l’esprit du temps*, to his show *Répliques* on France Culture .”
The show’s topic: Men and Women Today—On the Evolution of Gender Relations and Their Revolution. What could have been a traditional debate quickly proves to be more complex, transforming into a brilliant demonstration of contemporary feminism in the face of patriarchal discourse. Two visions clash; two worlds collide.
For more than fifty minutes, the philosopher, grappling with her interlocutors, attempts to respond point by point—with clarity and insight—to the arguments raised against her. Has the patriarchal structure of our society truly changed, as her opponents claim? Or must we, as the philosopher argues, continue to fight to truly dismantle the unequal foundations upon which it is built?
Gradually, the debate intensifies, the masks come off, and the listeners follow the discussion in stunned silence, as if watching the slow and painful agony of the buffalo toad on the patriarchal pedestal crumbling beneath it…
