Course VTTAE 87 – red – L'Epineuse – Espace VTT FFC Ain Forestière
This family-friendly loop alternates between tarmac roads, forest tracks and footpaths. Most of the route remains in the shade, offering pleasant coolness in summer.
(1) Start from the Col de la Faucille. Follow the pass road toward Les Rousses.
(2) After a few hundred meters, turn right onto the Vieille Maison forest road.
(3) Continue on this road for 4.6 km until you reach its end.
(4) At the end of the road, continue straight ahead on the path that extends from the road until you reach another section of forest road.
(5) Turn right and continue to the Baraque de Touppinet.
(6) Then take the path on the right, heading toward the Baraque du Clos du Cerf.
(7) Stay on the forest road.
(8) At the first hairpin turn, turn left.
(9) Then, at the second turn, turn left again.
(10) Continue on this road for about 800 m, then take the first path on the right: this is the Chemin du Mauvais Pas.
(11) Follow this path as it climbs toward Le Turet, then continue until you rejoin the Vieille Maison forest road.
(12) Follow the same route you took on the way there to return to La Faucille.

Description
This route passes through the Haute Chaîne du Jura National Nature Reserve: regulations are in effect; dogs are prohibited. It passes through a quiet zone that is closed from December 15 to June 30—the route is not accessible during this period. Please respect the regulations.
Only electric-assist mountain bikes (e-MTBs) are permitted, provided their motor assistance cuts off at 25 km/h, in accordance with current regulations. Bikes equipped with an electric motor are strictly prohibited.
This route offers a pleasant mix of small paved roads, forest roads, and trails, providing varied terrain without any major difficulties. Ideal for a leisurely ride, the loop remains mostly in the shade, making it a particularly enjoyable option on hot days.
The route starts at the Col de la Faucille and then follows a steady path through the Jura forest. Along the way, a few clearings offer unobstructed views of Mont Blanc and the Lake Geneva basin when the weather is clear.
