VTTAE 86 course – red – La Panoramique – Espace VTT FFC Ain Forestière

This route takes you through shady forest sections, rolling white paths and road sections. At the Col de Crozet, enjoy a breathtaking view of Mont Blanc and the Lake Geneva basin.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

(1) Start from the Col de la Faucille. Follow the GR trail markers (red and white) heading south.

(2) Pass between the ski pass sales chalet and the start of the toboggan run.

(3) Continue along this road for 8.14 km, passing by the giant zip line.

(4) Reach the Maréchaude chalet, where the road ends.

(5) Continue on foot to the Col de Crozet.

(6) At the pass, enjoy the unobstructed view of Mont Blanc and the Lake Geneva basin.

(7) Begin the descent toward Crozet via the Col Road (a gravel path, then a forest road).

(8) On the way down, pass by the Pré Galet forest cabin.

(9) At this intersection, continue to the right.

(10) At the next intersection, keep to the left, toward Gex.

(11) Continue on this road for about 5.5 km.

(12) Turn right onto Chemin Neuf.

(13) Continue through the Branveau area, pass through Les Platières, and arrive at Le Pailly.

(14) At Le Pailly, turn left onto the Route du Col de la Faucille and head back up to the starting point.

Description

This route crosses the Haute Chaîne du Jura National Nature Reserve: regulations in force, dogs prohibited. It passes through a quiet zone that is closed from 15 December to 15 May — the route is not accessible during this period. Please respect the regulations.

Only electric-assist mountain bikes (e-MTBs) whose motor cuts off at speeds of 25 km/h or higher are permitted, in accordance with current regulations. Bicycles equipped with an electric motor are strictly prohibited.

This route alternates between forest trails, dirt tracks and sections on roads. The gradual climb takes you to the Col de Crozet, where on a clear day you can see Mont Blanc and the Lake Geneva basin.
