28May2026
Meet-and-greet and book signing with the writer Blaise Hofmann
The Thursday 28 May at 19 a.m30
Librairie du centre 9 bis grand rue 01210 Ferney-Voltaire
Come and join us for a discussion about the story of the painter from the neighbouring village. A book by Blaise Hofmann tells the story of a young man, a former communist activist who became a painter and, together with friends, set up an artists’ studio on the shores of Lake Geneva.
Painting will take centre stage, with Blaise Hofmann joining us to present his latest book, *Le peintre du village voisin* (The Painter from the Neighbouring Village), published by Zoé. In this book, the Swiss author tells the story of a young man, a Communist Party activist who became a painter, who rubbed shoulders with the great Parisian artists and, with friends, set up an engraving workshop on the shores of Lake Geneva that would go on to become a global benchmark. The book takes us from the post-war period through Switzerland’s ‘Trente Glorieuses’ (the thirty glorious years) to the present day, telling the story of a touching man who practised his art in close contact with nature, sowing seeds here and there to ensure that contemplation endures.
Book signing followed by drinks with the author.
