The forest, a living treasure to be shared

To mark International Day of Forests, the French National Forestry Office is organizing free events for the general public in France from March 18 to 29, 2025.

In Mijoux, the public is invited to come and recharge their batteries and take part in treasure hunts and forest tours.

– Office National des Forêts stand: come and test your knowledge of the forest by taking part in a treasure hunt, and talk about forest management.
– Loisirs Nature Mijoux stand: find out about the association’s activities and current trail projects.
– Refreshment bar provided by the Sou des Écoles

Saturday: “Mijoux between mountain pastures and forests” – themed walk from 2:00 to 4:00 pm led by Alexandre MALGOUVERNÉ (historian), the ONF and Loisirs Nature Mijoux. Discover the rich history of the Valserine valley and the influence of man on the area since the Middle Ages. Adults and children aged 10 and over. In case of rain, a fallback solution with an indoor presentation will be offered.
Sunday:
– RNN de la Haute Chaîne du Jura stand (10:00-17:00): come and test your knowledge and learn more about the Nature Reserve and the nature that surrounds us!
– Forest management in Mijoux” – themed walk from 2:00 to 4:00 pm led by ONF and Loisirs Nature Mijoux. Learn about the challenges of forest management and the effects of climate change on our forests. You’ll also learn how the association is working to revive old trails once used by Mijolands. Adults and children aged 10 and over.
