Tribute concert to Michel Legrand

The Thursday 13 November at 20 a.m30
Orangerie du château de Voltaire – Allée du château 01210 Ferney-Voltaire
Far from the big bands and Hollywood violins that often accompany Michel Legrand's melodies, the duo opts for sober, acoustic arrangements, highlighting the composer's incredible inventiveness and the mischievousness of the lyrics.
A versatile composer, prolific creator of melodies and film scores, and prodigiously inventive arranger, Michel Legrand leaves behind a vast body of work whose hits, many of which have become jazz standards, are only the tip of the iceberg.

Having arrived at his work by very different paths, Christine Python and Nicolas Nadar have for years shared a growing enthusiasm for his inexhaustible repertoire. From this regular dialogue was born the desire for a joint project, building around Legrand’s songs a two-voice exploration of the torments of love, the central theme of all his work. From the great classics to little-known gems, from cinematic romances to zany fantasies, this touching song recital takes a gamble on sobriety.

An intimate and intense journey to the heart of the soul-sound of the great Legrand.

Musicians:

Christine Python, vocals; Nicolas Nadar, vocals; Victor Darnon, violin; Denis Croisonnier, accordion; Ivor Malherbe, double bass.
