Hiking: The Franco-Swiss route through the vineyards

(1) Starting point: Park alongside the city stadium.

(2) In the village, join rue de la Mairie and turn left onto rue Montbrison. Continue straight ahead on rue des Champs Novat.

(3) Exit the village. Take chemin des Carrés. Follow this road and take the second path on the left. This crosses a field, enters undergrowth and descends slightly. The Rhône becomes visible. Continue as far as Moulin; the path climbs back up and forks left to rejoin Challex.

(4) Take rue du Château and follow it to the intersection with route de la Plaine. This street gradually climbs towards the center, passing a fountain. At the junction with rue des Fontanettes, turn right. Continue to the end of this street, until it joins Route de la Plaine at the village exit. Turn left to join the Chemin des Charmilles, which allows you to change country.

(5) To cross into Switzerland: cross the border, follow the field, then go straight ahead on Chemin de Brive. This crosses the ruisseau des Charmilles before heading up towards the village of Dardagny.

(6) In the village, follow the main road for 150 m. Turn left into the vineyards.
(7) At the vineyards, turn right onto chemin Bertolier, then right again onto chemin Chalamont. Follow the signs for Tuilière, go through the houses and take the first right onto chemin des Grand Bois. Return to France via Chemin de la Buissonnaz.

(8) Arriving in the village of Challex: cross the Pré Moiron. The path becomes a road that gradually leads into the village. Join Rue de la Mairie to get back to your starting point.
