The first lets you hurtle down the slopes with a volunteer pilot in a chair that’s fully adapted for sliding, while the second lets you take a nice stroll on the plateau or a more sporting outing in the forest. With Nordic handiskiing, the trained volunteer can assist you by pulling or pushing your sledge, or simply accompany you and be there if you need him or her.

If you opt for downhill handiskiing, you’ll discover the magnificent Monts Jura resort and its facilities, which are perfectly adapted for people with disabilities. You’ll benefit from a range of facilities:

  • Direct access to the car park with spaces reserved for disabled skiers;
  • A dedicated hall with a heated room and a covered boarding area;
  • A terrace with access to the slopes;
  • Equipment adapted for alpine and Nordic handiskiing.

If you’re more of a Nordic handiskiing enthusiast, you’ll have the chance to discover the Vattay-Valserine ski area, one of the most impressive Nordic sites in France. A special heated room is available to welcome you, while a chalet and restaurant are accessible from the slopes for a well-deserved gourmet break.

What is the price of a handiski package?

Whether you opt for alpine or Nordic handiskiing, your handiskiing package will cost between €20 and €50 depending on the type of equipment you hire, with group rates available on request.

The session lasts 2 hours and is suitable for beginners aged 7 and over. Don’t hesitate to contact the trained volunteers at Monts Jura Handisports for more information!

What equipment do you need for handiskiing?

As well as a disabled ski pass, you’ll need special equipment to get down the slopes with your volunteer driver.

For handiskiing in the Alps, offers a range of equipment:

  • A Flex tandem with accompanying pilot, ideal for people with severe disabilities who are unable to ski independently;
  • A Tempo Duo, for shared sensations ;
  • Dual Ski, for independent skiers with a good level of skiing and good abdominal muscles (ideal for amputees, for example);
  • The Snow Kart, a chair that can be steered using your arms, for a great feeling of skiing on your own with a ski-knowledgeable guide present throughout your outing.

If you opt for a Nordic Handiski package, you can ski on a Nordic sledge. A volunteer will be on hand to help you up and down the slopes. Ideal for semi-autonomous skiing in complete safety!
